Series 6 Examination
Investment Company/Variable Contracts Products Representative

Purpose

Any person who wishes to sell investment company products such as mutual funds, or variable contracts, such as variable annuities, must qualify as a representative.

This examination qualifies the candidate to sell both investment company and variable contracts products.

Please note that the candidate can also qualify by passing the more comprehensive Series 7 Examination and becoming a general securities representative.

The Examination

The examination is composed of 100 multiple choice questions. A maximum of two hours and 15 minutes is allowed. The candidate must score at least 70% to receive a passing grade.

The examination may be taken at any Prometric Sylvan Testing Center.

Study Program

Upon enrollment, the candidate is provided with study material. It is composed of a lesson book that covers all areas to be tested and a set of practice examinations with complete explanations.

The candidate must devote approximately 50 hours of study time to these materials.

A two-day review class is held once each month. The class is held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
