Series 24 examination-General Securities Principal

Purpose

Any person who is actively involved in the management of a broker-dealer's investment banking or securities business must qualify as a principal. Activities that would require principal designation include supervision and training of persons involved in the firm's investment banking or securities business.

This examination qualifies the candidate to supervise activities related to general securities products. It does not qualify the candidate to supervise activities related to municipal securities (Series 53) or options (Series 4).

The Examination

The examination is composed of 150 multiple choice questions. A maximum of three hours is allowed. The candidate must score at least 70% to receive a passing grade.

The examination may be taken at any Prometric Sylvan Testing Center.

Study Program

Upon enrollment, the candidate is provided with study material. It is composed of a lesson book that covers all areas to be tested and a set of practice examinations with complete explanations.

The candidate must devote approximately 50 hours of study time to these materials.

Classes

A two-day review class is held once each month in our Coconut Creek office. The class is from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the first day and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the second day.

The candidate should complete the study materials prior to attending the review class.

We recommend that the candidate schedule the Series 24 examination a few days after the class.
