Series 53 Examination-Municipal Securities Principal
Purpose
Any person who is directly engaged in the management or supervision of a firm's municipal securities business must qualify as a principal.
Activities that require qualification include supervision of sales, trading , and underwriting of municipal securities. Also included is the supervision of research, investment advice, or financial advisory services.
This examination qualifies the candidate as a municipal securities principal.
The Examination
The examination is composed
of 100 multiple choice questions. A maximum of three hours
is allowed. The candidate may take this exam at any Prometric
Testing Center.
Study Program
Upon enrollment, the candidate is provided with study material. It is composed of a lesson book that covers all areas to be tested and a set of practice examinations with complete explanations.
The candidate must devote approximately 40 hours of study time to these materials.
Classes
A one-day review class is held once each month. The class is from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The candidate should complete the study materials prior to attending the review class.
We recommend that the candidate schedule the Series 53 examination a few days after the class.
The study program can also be completed on a correspondence basis rather than attending the one day review.
