Series 7 Examination-General Securities Representative

Purpose

This examination qualifies the candidate to sell all investment products except commodity futures products.

Individuals involved in other investment areas such as trading and investment banking may also be required to pass the Series 7 examination.

The examination

The examination is composed of two 125 question parts. Three hours is allowed for each part. The candidate must score at least 70% (of the 250 questions) to receive a passing grade. The examination may be taken at any Prometric Sylvan Testing Center.

Study Program

Upon enrollment, the candidate is provided with study material. It is composed of a lesson book that covers all areas to be tested and a set of practice examinations with complete explanations. We also offer the program on computer disks. All practice and final examinations are on the disk.

The candidate must devote approximately 100 to 120 hours of study time to these materials.

Classes

While studying, the candidate may attend our evening classes. These are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Time is devoted to the more important and more difficult topics such as bonds and options. These classes are only held at our Coconut Creek offices.

Once the candidate has completed the study materials, he or she should attend a one-week review class. The review class is held from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Classes are held twice each month in our Coconut Creek offices.

The candidate should schedule the Series 7 exam for the week after the review class.

The study program can also be completed on a correspondence basis rather than attending the one week review.
